Jorge Ernesto Ruiz
Artist/ Animator/ Storyteller
Jorge Ernesto, a native of he caribe, with Venezuelan mother, and Colombian father , was raised in Maracay, Aragua. The lifelong fan of animation & Film, decided to pursue animation as a career after seeing “Aladdin” in theaters.
He earned his bachelor’s in media art and design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and his masters in character animation from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Jorge E. Ruiz Cano was the Head of Animation for the short film “Cycles” and “Myth”. Since he became part of Walt Disney Animation Studios He served as an animation artist for Academy Award Winners “Frozen”, “Feast”,“Big Hero 6”, “Frozen Fever”, “Inner Workings”,“Zootopia”, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure”, “Moana” , “Raya”, “Encanto” “Wish” and other misc projects and roles. Prior to joining Disney, Ruiz worked at Industrial Light & Magic, Blue Sky Studios, Electronic Arts, TellTale, Activision, and Pixar Animation Studios. Jorge’s also been part of Calarts faculty for the last 10 years teaching animation/storytelling.
